Attorneys General in Challenging Contraception Mandate
DeWine, Twelve State Attorneys General Challenge Mandate Requiring
Religious Organizations to Offer Insurance Coverage for Contraception
Services for Their Employees
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today joined with 11
fellow attorneys general in sending a letter to Secretaries Sebelius,
Geithner and Solis regarding the Obama administration mandate to
require religious employers that provide health insurance coverage for
employees to cover contraception and related services.
“Religious organizations should not be forced by the federal government
to provide services that violate their spiritual and moral beliefs,”
said Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine. “This policy is in direct
conflict with the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution which
guarantees the freedoms of religion, speech and association.”
