Fatal Accident North of Versailles
On January 10, 2012 at approximately 9:08 AM Darke County Deputies, along with Versailles Fire, Versailles Rescue, CareFlight and a Darke County Coroners Investigator were
dispatched to the intersection of Reed Road and Long Road approximately one mile north of Versailles.
Preliminary investigation revealed a green 2003 Chevy Silverado, driven by Mark A. Pax, 67, Versailles, Ohio was westbound on Long Road approaching the stop sign at Reed Road. A blue 1999 Kenworth, semi tractor/trailer, driven by Larry G. Marrs, 63, Piqua, Ohio was southbound on Reed Road when Pax’s vehicle traveled through the intersection and was struck on the passenger side by Marrs’ vehicle. Both vehicle’s traveled off the left side of the roadway where they came to rest in a grass field.
Pax was pronounced dead at the scene. Marrs was transported to Wayne HealthCare by Versailles Rescue where he was treated and released. CareFlight’s response to the accident was cancelled.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
