Resident Lyn Bliss to serve
on NFRW Legislative Committee

VA─Rae Chornenky,
President of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) has
announced
the appointment of Lyn Bliss to the Legislative Committee of the NFRW.
Bliss
was appointed to fill the position for a two year term.
“This
came as a surprise, and I am
looking forward to serving President Chornenky and Chairladies Geary
and White.
This will be a demanding opportunity, because of the NFRW’s Legislative
Days
next year in Washington, D.C. It will also be a pleasure to continue
working
with all the great ladies of the NFRW!” stated Bliss.
The
Legislative Committee is chaired
by Edelweiss Geary, a member of the California Federation of Republican
Women.
The Committee’s Vice-chair is Valerie White of the North Carolina
Federation of
Republican Women. The Legislative Committee is designed to keep members
abreast
of legislative news and events on the local, state, and national level.
Its
members should be somewhat experienced in research and following the
progress
of a legislative or Congressional session. Legislative Committee
members should
be aware of who their elected representatives are. The Legislative
Committee is
a Standing Committee of the NFRW. The group will be holding its 2012
Spring
Board Meeting in New Orleans, LA.
Founded
in 1938, the National
Federation of Republican Women is a grassroots political organization
with
thousands of active members in local clubs across the nation and in
several
U.S. territories, making it one of the largest and most influential
women’s
political organizations in the country. Its members work to promote the
principles, objectives and policies of the Republican Party; elect
Republican
candidates; inform the public through political education and activity;
and,
increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government.
Bliss’s
participation in the Darke
County Republican Women’s Club has included serving as corresponding
secretary,
recording secretary, card party committee member, nominating committee
member,
picnic committee member, publicity chairlady, membership book editor,
and
representative to the OFRW and NFRW. She is a member of the Ohio
Republican
Party and the Republican National Committee.
She
previously served as a member of
the NFRW Program Committee, OFRW’s Southwest District Vice-president
and OFRW’s
Political Education Committee Chairman. She was recently elected as
OFRW First
Vice-president for the 2012 and 2013 term.
Bliss
is currently serving on the
Darke County Republican Central Committee and has served as county
campaign
chair for numerous Republican candidates on the federal, state, county
and
local levels. She
has also served as a
member of the campaign committees for a number of Republican candidates
at all
governmental levels.
She
is Co-chair of the League of Women
Voters of Darke County, President of VFW Auxiliary 7262, Board Member
and
Secretary of the Darke County Metropolitan Housing Authority, Secretary
and
Board Member for the Senior Scribes’ Scholarship Fund, webmaster for
the Darke
County Republican Party, Senior Scribes Scholarship Fund and the Ohio
Federation of Republican Women. She
is a
member of Eagle’s Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, Beta Sigma Phi
Sorority,
Christian Women’s Group, Darke County Historical Society (Garst
Museum),
Friends of the Greenville Library, Committee to Restore the Greenville
Mausoleum, Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority Alumni, University of Iowa
Alumni,
University of Maryland Alumni, Wright Patterson Club and the Dayton Art
Institute. She is currently a member of the 2012 Class of the Jo Ann
Davidson
Ohio Leadership Institute.
Bliss
has served on the Edison
Community College Board of Trustees, the Darke County Republican
Central and
Executive Committees, and Board of Directors for the Cancer Association
of
Darke County.
Bliss
is a retired teacher who earned a
Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland and a Master
of Arts
degree from the University of Iowa.
She
is married to Al Bliss. The couple resides in Greenville.
