Five Ohio
Farm Service Agency offices, including two in the Dayton region, will
close
under a new cost-cutting proposal by the United States Department of
Agriculture.
Local FSA
offices slated for closure include Clark County, which would be
consolidated
with Madison County FSA office in London, and Montgomery County, which
would be
consolidated with the Preble County FSA office in Eaton.
A public
meeting in each affected county will be held within the next 30 days,
but the
day, time and locations of those meetings has yet to be released.
The cuts
are party of a recent department-wide review of operations conducted as
part of
a campaign to cut waste.
Other Ohio
FSA offices that are being proposed for closure include:
• Carroll
County, which would be consolidated with the Tuscarawas County FSA
office in
New Philadelphia;
• Meigs
County, which would be consolidated with the Gallia/Lawrence County FSA
office
in Gallipolis; and
• Perry
County, which would be consolidated with the Fairfield County FSA
office in
Lancaster.
