Schools Granted Ohio School Facilities Commission Funding
COLUMBUS —
Following the Ohio School Facilities Commission meeting today, State
Senator
Keith Faber (R-Celina) announces three Western Ohio schools will
receive state
funding for much needed improvements.
“Our area
students are among the brightest in the state and they continue to
impress us
year after year,” said Faber. “Much
of
their success relies on having an appropriate environment to learn and
thrive.
I would like to congratulate our communities and schools on this latest
announcement.”
Projects
garnering the commission’s approval were:
The Apollo
Career Center (Lima) - The state will provide more than $22 million for
renovations and additions to the career tech facility.
A total of $34,125,093 will go toward
the
project, including a local share of $11,141,843.
Celina City
Schools (Celina) – A new K-3 building will be constructed with the help
of $8
million in state funding. In
addition,
$10,709,853 in local funding will be put toward the $18.7 million
project.
National
Trail Local School District (New Paris) – A state share of $600,000
will be
part of a $1 million project to replace the roof of the 1998
elementary/middle
school addition to the K-12 building.
In all, the
OSFC approved $1.1 billion in state and local funding for a total of 25
school
districts, one joint vocational school district, and one STEM school. Districts will have 13
months to acquire
their local share of funding in order for projects to move forward.
All funding
awards are contingent upon the approval of the State Controlling Board.
Senator Faber represents Ohio’s 12th Senate
District which includes Allen, Champaign, Mercer, Preble, and Shelby
Counties,
and contains portions of Auglaize and Darke Counties.
He currently serves as President Pro
Tempore
of the Ohio Senate.
