Bird
causes
field fire near Greenville

COUNTY, Ohio — Dayton Power and Light has confirmed that a bird flew
into a
transformer at the DP& L substation in the 5000 block of Sebring Warner Road near
Greenville Thursday
afternoon. It created a spark and ignited a dry field below.
Fortunately,
no power outages were reported. Officials from DP&L said the
substation
also suffered no damage.
Firefighters
from a eight departments were called to a wheat field after getting
reports of
the large fire. The fire charred about eight acres of
land.
Paramedics
were called to the scene to help firefighters who were battling the
flames in
temperatures near 90 degrees.
Firefighters from Greenville Township,
Ansonia, Arcanum, Pitsburg, Liberty Township and Gettysburg were among
the
departments who responded.
