Poll: Quality
workers hard to find

Three-fourths of respondents to a poll say it’s a tall order finding
quality workers to fill open positions.
In a recent poll by the Dayton Business Journal, most respondents said
“it’s a challenge” (42 percent) or it’s “very difficult” (34 percent)
to find the talent they need for their businesses.
The other one-fourth said it’s “fairly easy” (17 percent), or “Great
people are banging down our door” (7 percent).
About 120 people responded to the poll.
At a recent Defense Forum, hosted by the Dayton Business Journal, both
Dennis Andersch, senior vice president and Dayton region executive for
SAIC, and Scott Sullivan, president of Centerville-based SelectTech
Services Corp., said they have struggled to recruit the talent needed
for positions within their companies.
But the Dayton region has its charms, especially its low living costs
and educational opportunities, which make it attractive to businesses
and residents, alike.
Forbes recently named Dayton the most affordable city in the U.S.
