Senate
recognizes Meghan Vogel for sportsmanship
West
Liberty-Salem Runner Vogel
COLUMBUS–
Senator Keith Faber (R- Celina) and members of the Ohio Senate today
recognized
Meghan Vogel, a junior at West Liberty-Salem High School, for her
actions at
the recent state track championship. Vogel – who had previously won a
state
title in the 1,600-meter race – was competing in the 3,200-meter race
when a
fellow competitor fell a short distance from the finish. Vogel stopped
and
assisted her competitor to the finish line, making sure the other
runner
crossed ahead of her. The story has garnered Vogel national attention.
“Meghan’s selfless act of sportsmanship
showed her true character and is an inspiration to us all,” said Faber,
who
presented Vogel with a Senate resolution recognizing her
accomplishments. “She
is a champion in every sense of the word, and we in the Senate are
proud to
honor her achievements.”
