Search
called off in possible Grand Lake drowning
CELINA,
Ohio — Authorities in Celina said they have called a search after they
recieved
a call about a possible drowning at Grand Lake St. Marys Wednesday
afternoon.
Investigators
said they were not sure if anyone was in the water, but they received a
call
that someone possibly saw a child go into the lake.
Dive
teams
assembled near the lighthouse and searched part of the lake. However,
they said
nothing was found and have called off the search.
The
original emergency came in at 3:48 p.m. and crews were on the scene
until 5:12
p.m.
“Video
recordings from a nearby security camera had background views of the
area,”
said Celina Police Chief Dave Slusser, “and revealed that no one
matching the
description given was in the area before or after the emergency calls
were
placed to central dispatch.”
Slusser
said that once those recordings were obtained and reviewed, emergency
responders were released from the scene.
To insure
that no one was in danger,
emergency responders checked the shoreline, both in and out of the
water, for
signs of a victim of any type. They
found nothing suspicious, noted the Chief.
