BBB
offers
advice on using social media Thursday,
March 22, 2012
Just about
every marketing executive, CEO or small-business owner knows social
media is
vital for companies to help get the word out about their business and
products,
as well as allowing them to interact in real-time with customers.
But doing
something about that and figuring out how to use social media is a
daunting
task. Even something that seems as simple as choosing which site to use
can
prompt a headache for some people.
The Dayton
Better Business Bureau recently offered up some advice for companies
about
social media, including which sites to use. It also focused on why it
is
important for companies not using social media to become active in some
way
with some of the sites.
Some
interesting statistics from the column by Dayton BBB CEO John North
include:
• 93
percent of marketers use social media for business.
•
Facebook tops
Google for
weekly traffic in the U.S. And, if it
were a country, it would be the third largest.
• A new
member joins LinkedIn
every minute.
•
YouTube is
the second largest search
engine in the world.
With
statistics like these, how can you not use it for your business? It’s a
great
way to create word of mouth marketing for your business.
Among the
top tips are to keep your social media posts interactive, develop a
social
media policy and keep your content current.
