Dayton gas prices
creep toward $4 mark

Gas prices in the Dayton area are edging closer to the $4 per gallon
mark.
Prices at the pump on Tuesday reached as high as $3.79 per gallon at
various stations in the Miami Valley.
The average price locally was $3.67 for a gallon of regular unleaded
gas, up five cents from a day ago and 22 cents from a week ago,
according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report.
“Recent weeks have seen crude prices surge higher on geopolitical
tension with Iran, signs of economic improvement in the U.S., and signs
of progress toward addressing European sovereign debt concerns,” Avery
Ash, AAA manager of federal relations, said in a statement.
The cost of crude for April delivery is $106.67 per barrel, down
slightly from Friday’s high of $110.
Trucking firms are especially sensitive to the spikes and the Dayton
region has a booming trucking hub because of its location near the
intersection of Interstates 75 and 70.
