Greenville Fire Department...
Multiple fires
controlled at Fram Group
May 11, 2012
At 2:26 PM hours on Friday May 11, The City of Greenville Fire
Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire at the Fram
Group facility at 851 Jackson St.
Upon arrival fire crews found that a vent stack and a cure oven on was
on fire. As personnel were completing extinguishment of this
fire, plant personnel notified them that another fire was inside the
building. It was found that discarded paper media used in the
process of manufacturing oil filters had ignited and were disposed of
in an uncovered plastic trash container during the shut down procedures
for the original fire.
During the investigation of this fire an additional fire occurred in a
cure oven and quickly spread through an exhaust stack. This fire
was caused by paper media used in the process of manufacturing oil
filters being left inside the cure oven. Mutual aid was requested
to provide coverage to the city and for extra personnel at the Fram
Group plant.
