Greenville
police conducting death investigation

GREENVILLE,
Ohio — On Tuesday,
May 15, 2012 at
approximately 5:02 a.m., officers of the Greenville Police Department
were
dispatch to Wayne ER reference an unresponsive female. Prior to
officers’
arrival, doctors had pronounced the victim, 21-year-old Briana Smith,
of
Greenville, deceased. The victim was transported to the Montgomery
County
Coroner’s Office.
Preliminary
investigations revealed that witnesses stated the victim was observed
injecting
heroin prior to becoming unresponsive, according to Greenville Police
Chief
Dennis Butts.
The case is still under investigation by
the Greenville Police Department and the Darke County Coroner’s Office.
