Elected to Leadership Position in Oho
House
COLUMBUS—State
Representative Jim Buchy
(R-Greenville) today was elected by members of the Ohio House
Republican Caucus
to join House leadership as the assistant majority whip for the
130th General Assembly beginning in January.
Rep.
Buchy previously served as the assistant
majority whip when he was a member of the Ohio House in the late 1990s.
The
role of the whip and assistant whip is to gauge support for legislation
and
policy within the House.
“I
am honored to have been elected by my fellow
representatives to serve the House in this capacity,” Rep. Buchy said.
“I am
prepared to work for the good of all Ohioans and to uphold the values
and
traditions of this fine institution.”
In
addition to his new leadership role, Rep.
Buchy will continue to serve as a member of his House committees and to
serve
his constituents in western Ohio. His focus on agriculture and small
business
will continue to guide his efforts to create more jobs in the district.
Rep.
Buchy currently represents the
77th Ohio House District, which includes Mercer and Preble
counties as
well as portions of Darke County. While serving in the House from 1983
to 2000,
he served in several leadership positions including assistant majority
floor
leader, majority whip and assistant majority whip. He is the president
and CEO
of Buchy Food Service in Greenville.
