Development
Center opens
New center will help match workers
and employers in the aerospace industry
COLUMBUS
– State Senators Chris
Widener (R- Springfield), Peggy Lehner (R- Kettering) and Bill Beagle
(R- Tipp
City) today joined Wright State University officials and
representatives from
Ohio’s aerospace industry at the opening of a new center designed to
help match
workers with job openings and educational development opportunities in
the
aerospace and defense industries.
“Ohio’s
aerospace industry has a
large number of opportunities available, and this center will ensure
that
workers have the skills and training that are in demand by today’s
employers,”
Widener said.
The
Aerospace Professional Development
Center, located at Wright State University, will enable aerospace and
defense
employers to collaborate with government, higher education institutions
and
STEM initiatives in order to ensure that workers have the skills and
knowledge
needed for these high-tech positions. The center will offer career
coaching and
professional development programs as well as a web portal through which
workers
can search for jobs and post resumes and employers can post job
openings.
“One
of Ohio’s greatest assets is
our workforce, and by enabling employers and workers to better connect
with one
another we are setting the stage to grow the aerospace industry – both
here in
the Miami Valley and throughout the state,” Beagle said.
“Improving
the educational
resources available for students pursuing careers in the aerospace
industry
improves the odds they will stay here in Ohio, and also helps attract
companies
looking to take advantage of our highly-skilled workforce,” Lehner said.
