The Dayton Business Journal named the winners in its first-ever
Manufacturing Awards at an event Thursday evening.
A packed house filled the Dayton Masonic Center on Thursday for the
first Dayton Business Journal Manufacturing Awards.
Seven winners were named across a variety of categories, including
workforce training, exporting and community involvement.
Finalists in all categories were chosen from more than 107 nominations
by an independent panel of judges.

The honorees represent all facets of Dayton’s diverse manufacturing
industry from supplying the automotive sector, to manufacturing labels,
plastics and food.
The winners for the first-ever DBJ Manufacturing Awards were:
• Midmark Corp. (workforce training);
• Sulzer Friction Systems US Inc. (exporting);
• SAS Automation LLC (sustainability);
• Uncle Jester’s Fine Foods (community involvement);
• Fukuvi-USA Inc. (innovation);
• Production Control Units Inc. (safety); and
• Swihart Industries (overall excellence).
Manufacturing is critical to the Dayton region because it represents
100,000 jobs and accounts for tens of billions of dollars in annual
sales in the 12-county region surrounding Dayton, according to a Wright
State University study commissioned by the Dayton Region Manufacturers
Association.
