Announces University of Dayton to
Receive Third Frontier Funding
$2.99 Million to Support Advanced Material Development
COLUMBUS
– State Senator Bill Beagle
(R–Tipp City) today announced Controlling Board approval of roughly $3
million
in Ohio Third Frontier Program funding to the University of Dayton to
advance
the Innovation Platform Program. The University will use the funds to
focus on
the development of new materials to be used in additive manufacturing
processes
that will meet the needs of the aerospace industry in Ohio.
“The
aerospace industry is poised to grow exponentially over the next few
years
in the Dayton region,” Beagle said. “This Third Frontier funding allows
the
University of Dayton to be at the forefront of the cutting edge
technology
critical to realizing the full potential of job creation this industry
offers.”
The University of Dayton will provide more than $3.3 million in
matching funds
for the project.
The Ohio Third Frontier’s Innovation Platform Program supports
near-term
commercialization platforms at Ohio higher education institutions and
non-profit research organizations. Its goal is to link the development
and
innovation occurring at Ohio colleges, universities, or not-for-profit
research
institutions to specific needs of Ohio companies.
Senator Beagle is a member of the Third Frontier Advisory Board, which
provides
support and advice on strategic planning and general management and
coordination of programs associated with the Ohio Third Frontier.
