Poll: Economy top factor
leading into presidential election
by Laura Englehart, Staff Reporter
Tuesday, September 18, 2012
More
than half of respondents to a
DBJ poll said their greatest concern heading into the presidential
election is
the economy.
With
the presidential election
fewer than 50 days away, the most prevalent concern in the Dayton
region is the
economy, according to a Dayton Business Journal online poll.
More
than half of 213 poll respondents
said their “greatest concern heading into the presidential election” is
the
economy, followed by 23 percent who said it’s the national debt.
Another
5 percent said they’re
focused on taxes, and only 1 percent said national security.
The
rest — 15 percent — said
they’re mainly concerned with something other than the given choices.
Ohio
has become a battleground
state in this presidential election for its history of voting for both
Republican and Democratic candidates. In 2008, Ohio supported President
Barack
Obama.
