Greenville Schools Levy passes by wide margin
By Bob Robinson
The Greenville Schools levy passed by a 57-43 margin Tuesday night as hundreds of supporters gathered at Memorial Hall began cheering and hugging each other. The final “unofficial” vote count was 3,395 For, 2532 Against.
Greenville Superintendent Doug Fries, and Greenville Treasurer Carla Surber were at the Darke County Board of Elections when the final count was posted. They were greeted at Memorial Hall by supporters lined up on both sides of the entrance to the main stairway.
When Fries and Surber entered they were greeted with loud cheering, clapping and chants of Green Wave and We Love Greenville.
Fries thanked everyone for their hard work, and especially the Levy Committee’s tri-chairs: Jan Teaford, Susan Spille and Rita McCans.
Coming soon… more from Fries, Surber and the volunteers Tuesday evening.
