A pellet or BB gun takes out
courthouse door
By Bob Robinson
GREENVILLE
– At 9:15 p.m. Aug. 8 an
unknown suspect took a shot at the Darke County Courthouse with a BB or
pellet
gun and blew out the glass window of the right side door. According to
Darke
County Sheriff Toby Spencer there are no suspects at this time.
The
camera outside was working but
it failed to record the incident due to a backup drive failure. The
camera
inside recorded it but identification of the suspects was impossible.
Darke
County Business Administrator
John Cook said the new glass panel had already been ordered.
“It
was a custom door, double
plated, so it may take a while.”
It
was ordered from Iddings in
Greenville, he said, adding they were the ones who installed the door
in the
first place.
Cook
added the delivery time would
probably be one and a half to two weeks. He acknowledged he didn’t yet
have a
cost for the replacement. The county has a $2,500 deductible for its
insurance
so it wouldn’t run more than that.
He
noted the repair order on the
backup drive had also been placed.
Greenville
Police Chief Dennis
Butts checked for similar incidents reported by his department. He
noted a BB
gun was likely used to break a kitchen window on Washington Avenue
between Aug.
11 and 12. Police reports showed no other incidents during the time
frame.
