Announces Retirement

Richard
N. Adams Ph.D., State Representative, 80th District announced his
retirement today at a news conference at the Miami County Safety
Building in Troy. His retirement will be effective January 1, 2015 at
the conclusion of his current term.
Representative
Adams expressed his appreciation to the citizens of Miami and Darke
Counties for their support and the opportunity to serve them in
Columbus as their state representative.
Dr.
Adams is serving his third term as a member of the Ohio House of
Representatives. He served two terms as Miami County Commissioner and
two terms as a member of the Miami County Board of Elections.
Adams
was the founding superintendent of the Upper Valley Career Center.
Prior to moving to Concord Township in Miami County he was Vice
President of Clark State Community College preceded by serving as a
member of the teaching faculty at Northwestern High School (both
located in Clark County).
While
serving in the state legislature he was a member of several
committees including Agriculture & Natural Resources, Commerce,
Labor & Technology, State Government & Elections, Health &
Aging, Public Pension Reform, and Health & Human Resources. He
currently serves on Finance & Appropriations, Transportation
Appropriations, State & Local Government and is Chairman of the
Financial Institutions, Housing & Urban Development Committee.
Dr.
Adams has a long and distinguished record of public service to his
community. He believes and practices the concept of being a hard
working volunteer for organizations serving people.
Dr.
Adams was reared on a dairy farm and was active in FFA and 4-H. The
money saved from his work on the farm helped him as he worked his way
through college. He received a bachelor of science degree in
Agriculture Education from The Ohio State University. He taught
agriculture at the high school, adult education and college levels.
While
working full time he completed his Master of Arts and Doctor of
Philosophy degrees at The Ohio State University. Representative Adams

Dr.
Adams indicated he would be continuing his work as a member of the
Unity National Bank Board of Directors, a member of the Miami County
Foundation Board of Directors, Chairman of the Miami County
Republican Central Committee and renew his activity as a member of
the Piqua Rotary Club.
During
the final year of his work as state representative Dr. Adams will
continue concentrating on those legislative activities that are
important to the citizens he represents.
Representative
Adams and his wife Sandy, a registered nurse, will continue to reside
in Concord township. They have three adult children, Julie, Rick and
Christian.
