Lying
to police leads to additional charge
GREENVILLE
- On Dec. 2 police stopped Tamara Swartz for speeding on Chestnut at
Oak Street. Swartz said she had an emergency and needed to get her
son to the hospital because he’d had a seizure. Swartz refused an
offer of an ambulance and advised she was going straight to the
hospital. She was issued a warning and sent on her way. The officer
then noticed Swartz went down Martz instead of Sherman so he checked
and observed Swartz turn toward Fair Street instead of the hospital.
About 10 minutes later the officer saw Swartz pull into Family
Health. The officer stopped her again. Swartz said she went to the
hospital but they advised her to go to her family doctor. When asked
if this was a scheduled appointment Swartz said no. The officer went
to Wayne Emergency; they were not aware of any visit from Swartz.
Family Health advised the officer that Swartz had a scheduled
appointment. She was issued a citation for speeding and one for
falsification for misleading the officer.
