County crews fight four blazes in 48 hours

DARKE
CO. — Fire crews in Darke County have had an exhausting weekend.
Four
blazes spanned the county since Saturday morning, with houses and
barns being damaged.
Fire
fighters were on scene at two blazes simultaneously on Sunday
evening.
Around
6:47 p.m., crews in Versailles and Russia were called to a barn fire
in the 12000 block of Willowdell Road. Just minutes later, Liberty
Township crews were called to an active barn fire in the 5000 block
of Smith Road.
As of
9 p.m., fire fighters were still on scene at both of those blazes.
On
Saturday at approximately 3:30 a.m., Liberty Township crews were
dispatched to a blaze in the 5600 block of Hillgrove Southern Road
where three structures were burning. A barn, house and garage were on
fire and animals were reportedly in danger.
Early
Sunday, approximately 50 fire fighters were called to the 3400 block
of state route 571 on a fully-engulfed house fire. 10 different fire
departments were represented at that blaze, that started at about
2:30 a.m.
Luckily,
no injuries were reported in any of the blazes.
