AT&T enhances local
wireless network for Eldora Speedway
Company
Expands Wireless Network Capacity for Customers
ROSSBURG,
Ohio (July 12, 2013) — As thousands of people converge
on Darke County for the 30th annual Kings Royal Weekend at Eldora
Speedway,
AT&T* is boosting network capacity to help its customers have a
great
wireless experience.
The
company has expanded mobile Internet coverage to accommodate
increased wireless network demands from high concentrations of
smartphone users
at Eldora Speedway. The augmentations will help improve reliability and
data
speeds throughout the racing season.
“This
is good news for my constituents because advancement in
mobile technologies is a critical driver for businesses and consumers
to remain
competitive and to foster further growth,” said State Representative
Jim
Buchy. “When a
local business like
Eldora Speedway attracts visitors, they bring economic vitality to
Darke
County. Enhancing the communications infrastructure helps us in these
efforts;
I’d like to thank AT&T for making this investment in our
community.”
The
permanent and temporary enhancements are part of AT&T’s
ongoing efforts to prepare for and provide the best possible mobile
experience
during special events like the races hosted at Eldora Speedway. As
Eldora
attracts more than 20,000 spectators annually, AT&T’s network
team has
expanded wireless network coverage to support the crowd’s mobile
Internet
needs.
“Venues
like Eldora Speedway generate memorable experiences that
our customers will want to share with friends and family through text
messages,
photos, status updates on social networks and calls from their mobile
devices,”
said Dennis Hellmann, AT&T External Affairs Director. “We
deployed a team
of network engineers whose local network enhancements will help provide
great
connectivity, solid coverage and fast speeds.”
AT&T
operates the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network** including
more than 32,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots at popular restaurants,
hotels,
bookstores and retailers, and provides access to more than 402,000
hotspots
globally through roaming agreements. Most AT&T smartphone
customers get
access to our entire national Wi-Fi network at no additional cost, and
Wi-Fi
usage doesn’t count against customers’ monthly wireless data plans.
Over
the past five years, AT&T invested nearly $98 billion
into operations. Since 2008, AT&T invested more capital into
the U.S.
economy than any other public company.
In a July 2012 report, the Progressive
Policy Institute ranked AT&T
No. 1 on its list of U.S. “Investment Heroes.”
