One killed in
Darke County accident
On June 30, 2013 at approximately 12:22 PM Darke County Deputies along,
with Arcanum Rescue, Greenville Rescue, New Madison Fire and CareFlight
were dispatched to the intersection of State Route 503 and
Hollansburg-Arcanum Road in reference to a two vehicle, serious injury
accident.
Preliminary investigation revealed a silver 2001 Oldsmobile Alero
driven by Adam J. Bartle, 18, New Paris, Ohio was traveling east bound
on Hollansburg-Arcanum Road approaching the intersection of State Route
503. Bartle failed to stop at the posted stop sign, traveling
through the intersection and striking the north bound 2010 Toyota
Tacoma. The Toyota traveled off the right side of the roadway and
came to rest in the front yard of a residence.
Bartle was transported to Wayne HealthCare where he was treated and
released. Bartle was the only occupant in the vehicle. The
passenger of the Toyota Tacoma, Marshall Stikeleather, 91, Lewisburg,
Ohio was transported to Wayne HealthCare. Stikeleather was later
transported to Miami Valley Hospital by Spirit Medical Transport (MICU)
for further evaluation and is listed in critical condition. The
female driver of the Toyota Tacoma succumbed to her injuries sustained
in the accident.
The Darke County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction team and the
Darke County Coroners Investigator responded to the scene for further
investigation. CareFight was unable to fly due to weather
conditions.
The name of the deceased will be released pending notification to
multiple family members.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's
