Car/bike accident results in fatality
On July 12, 2013 at approximately 8:27 A.M. Darke County Deputies, Darke County Coroner’s Office, Arcanum Rescue, Tri Village Rescue and New Madison Fire were dispatched to the 5400 block of Delisle Fourmans Road in reference to a vehicle striking a female on a bicycle.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 1993 Honda Civic driven by Jessica Jones, 24, of Arcanum, Ohio was travelling east bound on Delisle Fourmans Rd. in the 5400 block. A bicycle, ridden by Janice M. Howard, 58, of Arcanum, Ohio was struck in the rear by the 1993 Honda Civic. Janice M. Howard succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Jessica Jones was transported by Tri Village Rescue to Wayne Healthcare.
Darke County Sheriff’s Accident Reconstruction Team was requested to the scene to assist in the investigation.
Accident remains under investigation
