Government
auditors to review
sequestration cuts
U.S.
House Budget Committee
Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., has asked auditors to review five different
areas
of sequestration, Federal News Radio reported.
The
Government Accountability
Office will examine the actual sequestration order, as well as the July
31 memo
to agencies from the Office of Management and Budget.
Ryan
also wants GAO to look at any
supporting reports, regulations and orders for compliance with the
Budget
Control Act, the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act, and
other
relevant statutes.
Sequestration
is having a
wide-ranging impact on the Dayton region, including cutting tuition
assistance
for Air Force personnel taking college courses locally, as well as
causing the
furlough of roughly 13,000 local federal workers and costing $100
million in
local wages.
