Cyclist struck by car
On October 12, 2013 at approximately 2:06 p.m. Darke County deputies,
along with Greenville Township Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the
5200 Blk of SR 121 in reference to a vehicle that had struck a subject
on a bicycle.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire, driven
by Tia Williamson (19) of Greenville was northbound on SR121.
Williamson observed a bicycle, ridden by Benjamin Flatter (54) of
Greenville, northbound on SR 121. Williamson started to veer to
the left of the centerline to try and overtake Flatter. Flatter
then started riding to the left side of the roadway and was struck by
Williamson. Flatter was ejected from the bicycle.
Flatter was treated by Greenville Township Rescue and was transported
to Miami Valley Hopsital by CareFlight. Williamson was not
injured during the accident and refused any treatment by Greenville
Township rescue. At this time it is unknown the condition of
Flatter.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's
Office.
