Darke County Sheriff's Office
Shot fired
inside a residence
On Tuesday October 8, 2013 at approximately 2:00AM Darke County
Deputies responded to 1060 Red River West Grove Road on a 911 call of a
shot being fired inside the residence. Deputies were also
informed that the male suspect, Richard Macy Jr., 36, was
intoxicated. Before arrival Deputies were told Mr. Macy was
outside and possibly trying to leave in a vehicle.
Once Deputies arrived and were able to make their way up to the
residence, they were able to determine Mr. Macy was outside of the
residence and inside of the barn behind the house. Mr. Macy
eventually came out of the barn and was confronted by Deputies and
ordered to the ground and taken into custody without incident.
Further investigation revealed Mr. Macy and his wife were having a
discussion/argument over a requested divorce when Mr. Macy shot a round
from a .45 revolver into the bedroom ceiling while his wife was laying
in bed. Two children ages eight and fourteen were also inside the
residence at the time and uninjured.
Mr. Macy was transported to the Darke County Jail on charges of weapons
while intoxicated and aggravated menacing.
