GREENVILLE
– Edward F. Dingman, Jr. pleaded guilty Oct. 16 to the Illegal
Assembly or Possession of Chemicals for the Manufacture of Drugs, a
Third Degree Felony.
Dingman
was arrested on Feb. 7 following a search warrant issued to his
address at 9690 Greenville-St. Mary’s Road, Versailles. While
attempting to serve a misdemeanor arrest warrant Darke County
Sheriff’s Deputies observed what appeared to be materials used to
manufacture Methamphetamine.
Dingman
was originally charged with two additional counts, Illegal
Manufacture of Drugs (F4) and Possession of Chemical Tools (F5). They
were dismissed in return for the guilty plea and a willingness to
cooperate with the prosecution.
Darke
County Common Pleas Judge Jonathan Hein told Dingman the charge
carries a maximum prison term of 36 months with an optional three
years post-release control. It includes a minimum $5,000 fine
(maximum $10,000) and driver’s license suspension.
“You
understand when you plead guilty you are giving up your trial
rights,” Hein said.
“Yes,
sir,” Dingman answered.
Hein
noted Dingman had no prior criminal record, then said the case will
be forwarded to Probation for a pre-sentence report. He added he
expected Dingman to work with Probation and advised him not to miss
his appointments.
Dingman’s
defense attorney is David Rohr. Assistant Prosecutor is Deborah
Quigley. The state will likely make a sentencing recommendation
following review of the pre-sentence report.
Sentencing
is set for Dec. 2 at 10 a.m.
