Ohio
has the potential for major economic growth, according to an article
from Business Facilities magazine.
The
national magazine, which totes itself as “the leading source of
intelligence on corporate expansion and relocation,” released its
annual report ranking countries, states and metro areas for their
business climates and growth potential.
Ohio
scored high for a potential for economic growth, ranked No. 7 of the
50 U.S. states. The state also took No. 1 for “most improved
business climate.”
Specifically,
the report highlighted Youngstown for its “three dimensions” of
job creation. That city was ranked as metro area No. 6 in the nation.
The
state’s automotive manufacturing economy was also ranked high,
including No. 5 for automotive manufacturing strength, and No. 2
among auto parts supplier leaders.
The
Dayton region is a hotbed for the automotive industry, home to
numerous suppliers, as well as a Honda engine plant in Shelby County
that employs 2,400.
Among
other rankings captured by the state:
• Ohio
was ranked No. 8 on the list of state biofuels leaders by Ethanol
production;
• Ohio
also took No. 7 of the states as a data center leader; and
• Ashland
took 10th place among metros for “lowest cost of living.”
