Fire damages 12
Greenville structures
GREENVILLE — A large garage was destroyed this morning and the blaze
caused damage to more than 10 adjacent buildings.
The three-alarm fire was in the 200 block of Washington Avenue close to
Devor Street near downtown Greenville.
Six fire departments responded to the scene to assist the Greenville
Fire Department and the flames are under control.
The fire caused damage to eight nearby homes, which are located tightly
together in the residential block. Three other adjacent garages were
damaged including heavy damage to parked cars outside of the destroyed
garage. No one was injured by the flames this morning.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but due to the
costly damages and the number of structures affected the State Fire
Marshal has been called in to assist with the investigation.
