Treasurer Josh Mandel
Financial
Summit focuses on the economic and financial issues facing states
COLUMBUS
- Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel is proud to be hosting the State
Financial Officers Foundation (SFOF) financial summit in Columbus
this week. State treasurers and chief financial officers from across
the country are convening in Columbus to discuss important fiscal
issues like public pension reform, municipal bankruptcy, and public
finance.
"I
am proud to host State Treasurers from across the country in Columbus
this week to showcase our state and discuss important financial
issues facing states. Ohio has a great fiscal story to tell, going
from an $8 billion deficit to more than a billion dollar surplus in
just three years," said Treasurer Mandel. "I believe that
many of the initiatives that we have undertaken to increase
transparency, modernize outdated banking systems, and launch new
local government investment programs are examples of best practices
that can and should be replicated across the country."
SFOF
is a non-partisan, non-profit organization of state treasurers and
chief financial officers that promotes fiscally responsible public
policy and serves to educate the public, media and policy makers
about the role of finance in a free market economy. The foundation
promotes educational forums that help state financial officers
develop and exchange solutions to complex financial issues facing
states.
"In
Ohio, Treasurer Mandel has restored integrity to a scandal plagued
office, leveraged technology to launch new initiatives that benefit
local governments and taxpayers, and conservatively managed his
budget and billions in state investments through turbulent economic
times," said SFOF President Derek Kreifels. "Josh Mandel
sets the example for how a state treasurer office should be run. He's
steady, trustworthy and fiscally responsible. We appreciate his state
hosting our 2014 spring financial meeting."
