Aggravated
Burglary Suspect Arrested in Darke County
On
1/12/2014 at approximately 0518 hours, deputies from the Darke County
Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an Aggravated Burglary
that had recently occurred at 102 Anderson Street in New Madison, OH.
Witnesses reported that Jason Lee Hunt, age 20, of New Madison, OH
had broken into the residence at 102 Anderson Street by busting
through a locked door. Mr. Hunt then entered a bedroom, brandished a
small handgun, racked a round into the chamber and pointed it at a 21
year old female's head. He then made demands that she leave with him
and threatened to kill her if she didn’t comply. Mr. Hunt
physically assaulted that same female multiple times. The female did
not comply with his demands, and with the assistance of other
occupants, Mr. Hunt left the residence without further incident. As
Mr. Hunt was leaving the residence, he continued to make threats of
killing everyone. All occupants left the residence soon thereafter.
Darke
County Deputies began a lengthy search for Mr. Hunt as an arrest
warrant for Mr. Hunt was being obtained. At approximately 3:30 P.M.,
a family member that had been spoken with earlier in the day
contacted the Sheriff’s Office and advised them that Mr. Hunt was
currently with them and that they would soon be coming to the
Sheriff’s Office. At approximately 1622 hours, Jason Lee Hunt was
arrested on the charge of Aggravated Burglary, a felony of the first
degree. Mr. Hunt will appear later this week in the Darke County
Common Pleas Court for his initial appearance and bond hearing.
