Three
incidents of Domestic Violence reported
On
Jan. 19 police responded to a domestic abuse call regarding Daniel
Griggs. According to the victim, he had come home drunk and accused
her of stealing his money. She tried to remove herself from the
situation but Griggs shoved her then began repeatedly punching her in
the face. He caused bruising and swelling as well as scratches to the
area of her left eye. She got away from him and went into the
bathroom to call 911. Griggs tried to force the bathroom door open
causing a hole and a split in the door’s side. He left the
residence when he saw she was calling 911. Greenville Rescue checked
her and her mother took her to Wayne Hospital. Griggs was located at
219 Ash St., arrested and transported to Darke County Jail. He had a
prior conviction for Domestic Violence on Jan. 17, 2013, so this
charge is a Felony 4.
On
Jan. 15 police responded to a domestic abuse call regarding Brian
Seats, Jr. Seats told the victim he was taking her vehicle but she
refused because he didn’t have a driver’s license. Seats became
upset and began threatening her, reportedly making statements like
“break my jaw” and “kick my a**.” She tried calm him down
because a juvenile was in the next room. Seats reportedly attempted
to take her phone, she covered it with her pillow. Seats took the
pillow and put it over her face. He then began striking her in the
head, according to the report. She tried defending herself and he
slapped her. Bottom lip appeared puffy but skin wasn’t broken.
Seats has been previous convicted of Domestic Violence so this became
a 4th degree felony. He was apprehended at 3779 Jaysville-St. Johns
Road, arrested for Domestic Violence and transported to Darke County
Jail.
On
Jan. 17 police responded to 418 E. Water regarding a verbal domestic.
Susan Ray was in a verbal argument with her mother, Terri Wyatt. Ray
was picking up her belongings because she had moved out. During the
argument Ray got upset and broke a small solar light. She was cited
for criminal damaging.
BURGLARY
On
Jan. 15 police were dispatched to 632 Wayne Ave. regarding a
burglary. The victim, Joan Mowery, told police someone had entered
her residence from the back door and gone to her bedroom. It appeared
ransacked. She advised the bedroom was the only place items were
missing. Valuables on the ground floor had been untouched. A safe had
been taken from a hiding place in the bedroom which contained
jewelry, a large sum of money and other valuables. Other valuables
had been left behind. Mowery later told police her checkbook had also
been stolen; she had cancelled the account. There are no suspects at
this time.
On
Jan. 16 police were dispatched to the Greenville Police Department
regarding a burglary complaint from Erwin Zeiter for stolen items
from the First Congregational Church, 115 W. 5th St. Estimated value
of items is $1,700. No suspects at this time.
On
Jan. 15 police responded to a breaking and entering complaint at a
shed in Colonial Trailer Park, Lot 21. An unknown individual broke
into the shed and stole property belonging to John DeBord. Nothing
else at this time.
On
Jan. 13 police responded to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 131 E.
Fourth St., regarding a stolen laptop. It was reported by member Mike
Meckes. No signs of forced entry. Nothing more at this time.
FORGERY
On
Jan. 17 police were dispatched to J&M Tire regarding a possible
forgery complaint. The owner, Barry Parin, said a former employee
took business checks and has written 16 checks totaling $16,034.
Copies of the checks were provided to police. Victim is checking to
see if additional checks have been written. Nothing further at this
time.
WARRANT
On
Jan. 18 police arrested Ty Howell in the 800 block of N. Gray Avenue.
He had a warrant for probation violation on a burglary plus a bench
warrant for Failure to Comply on serving 15 days out of Greenville
Police. He was transported to the Darke County Jail.
SHOPLIFTING
On
Jan. 20 police responded to a shoplifting call at CVS Pharmacy, 1009
E. Main St. Joe Buckley was cited for theft for taking a bag of candy
and a soft drink without paying for them. Buckley was also warned for
trespassing.
VANDALISM
On
Jan. 19 police responded to 1136 E. Main St. regarding criminal
damaging. The complainant, Donald Cotterman, told police he and his
girlfriend, Christy Wooten, had just broken up and were in the
process of moving. Cotterman said a female friend took him to Dayton
to see his daughter and when he returned he found the driver’s side
window and front windshield of his truck had been shattered. Wooten
admitted damaging the truck with a baseball bat. She was mad he had
another girl pick him up at the residence. She was cited for criminal
damaging.
BAD
CHECKS
On
Jan. 15 police were dispatched to Greenville National Bank, 114 W.
4th St., regarding a bad checks complaint. According to the bank, the
suspect had written four checks, one of them at the Bradford Branch
in Miami County. The bank had made numerous contacts with the
suspect. Despite promises, the suspect has not repaid the bank.
Greenville Police will be submitting the case to the Darke County
Prosecutor for review.
