Republican
convention to come to Cleveland
Greetings!
Ohio
received huge news today. The 2016 Republican National Convention is
coming to our state. Just before noon this morning the Site Selection
Committee recommended Cleveland as the host city to Republican
National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus. Today's announcement is
the culmination of months of hard work by the Cleveland Host
Committee, our elected officials, RNC members, and many others who
showcased our great state.
I
especially want to thank Governor Kasich, Senator Portman, and
Speaker Boehner for their work to bring the Convention here. It
wouldn't have happened without them. I also want to thank our RNC
Committeewoman Jo Ann Davidson and Committeeman Bob Bennett. It is
such a thrill to know that the next Convention will practically be in
Bob's backyard. Congratulations. Lastly, I want to thank Cuyahoga
County Chairman Rob Frost for his work to land the convention. Great
things are happening in Ohio thanks to our Republican team.
With
today's announcement Cleveland enters into formal negotiations with
the RNC. The RNC should then officially select Cleveland as our 2016
host at the RNC's August meeting in Chicago. There's a lot of work
left to do between now and August, and then even more to do before
the Convention comes. We've shown though that we can do it.
We
will send out more details about how to get involved and volunteer as
they become available.
Of
course, 2016 won't matter without a strong 2014. Winning in '16
means winning this year and building the political infrastructure we
need to be successful in the years ahead. This year's elections need
to remain our top priority. Today's good news is just a reminder of
how important Ohio is to our nation's politics.
Onward
to Victory!
