Rep.
Adams Announces Funding for Local School Districts
Funding
for Piqua, Covington schools will support district projects
COLUMBUS—State
Representative Richard Adams (R-Troy) has announced that the State
Controlling Board approved the release of funding for Piqua City
School District and Covington Exempted Village School District in
support of various school district projects.
The
Ohio School Facilities Commission requested the release of a total of
$130 million, which derives from the licensing fees for the Ohio
Lottery video lottery terminals, according to documents from the
Office of Budget and Management. Funding will be used to provide the
state share of basic project costs to those school districts
receiving approval from the School Facilities Commission.
“As
a result of state funds administered by the Ohio School Facilities
Commission and local finances, school districts have been able to
replace or add school buildings to meet the requirements of a good
instructional environment. This partnership of state and local
entities is an outstanding investment in current and future
students,” Representative Adams said.
House
Bill 482 of the 129th General Assembly provided for the School
Facilities Commission to receive a total of $250 million through the
Lottery Profits Education Fund for use in the Classroom Facilities
Assistance Program.
