Double Murder
Cold Case Sees New Interest
GREENVILLE -- A cold case double murder could be heating up after 17
years. Denny Young and Kimberly Stephan were shot and killed in
February 1997 on Chippewa Street in Greenville, and now Young's brother
is trying to spark renewed interest in the case by increasing the
reward money to $10,000.
Young's brother Stephen is also working with Darke County Crime
Stoppers to come up with a new way to catch the killer.
"It's a memory you'll never forget especially being a brother," said
Setphen Young standing on the street where the crime happened. He
remembers the murders like it was yesterday.
"He just shot her... but Denny, he did a number on him," Young said. He
hadn't been back to the scene of the crime in 13 years, but after all
that time he wants to offer more money and renew interest in the case
because he believes he knows who killed his brother Denny, and Kimberly.
"Ninety-nine percent sure we know who did it," Young said. "Just gotta
get enough evidence to put him behind bars. I just think every day that
person that did it he knows who he is, he has lived a good life for 17
years and my brother's laid dead. So its time for something to be done
with him."
"We have a lot of local Facebook pages and groups that actually like to
talk all day long about everything that goes on," said Clinton Randall,
President of Darke County Crime Stoppers. Randall said that's the Crime
Stopper's new goal for the case; get people talking again.
"There are some leads that have come out of the talking," Randall said.
