closing Indiana plant, moving 30 jobs to Piqua

Air Movement will shutter its Portland, Indiana plant and move 30
jobs to Piqua.
The
industrial fan manufacturer, a division of Piqua-based Hartzell
Industries Inc., announced the consolidation plan late Monday. It
will begin this month and be complete in August.
Company
officials say the move will cut lead times and increase efficiency.
“By
consolidating our resources to Piqua, Ohio headquarters, it allows us
to build on our strengths and continue to be a leader in the air
movement industry,” said Sean Steimle, president of Hartzell Air
Movement, in a statement.
The
announcement is good news for Piqua and Miami County, which have been
working to bolster their industrial base.
