Two injury
accidents NW county
On November 11, 2014 at approximately 1:56 PM Darke County Deputies
along with Union City Rescue, Southwest Mercer County Fire and
CareFlight were dispatched to the intersection of McFeeley-Petry Road
and Light Road in reference to a two vehicle injury accident.
Preliminary investigation revealed a white 1998 Ford F-150 driven by
Dennis W. Brewer, 56, Ft. Recovery Ohio was south bound on Light Road
approaching the stop sign at McFeeley-Petry Road. Brewer failed
to yield after a clearly marked stop sign traveling into the path of a
tan 2005 Chrysler Town and Country, driven by Christina M. Neels, 28,
Union City Indiana.
Both Brewer and Neels were treated and released from the accident
scene. Neels' two year old rear seat passenger was restrained in
a child safety seat, the two year old was transported to Dayton
Childrens Hospital by CareFlight with non life threatening injuries.
Dennis W. Brewer was issued a citation for failure to yield after a
clearly marked stop sign.

571
On November 11, 2014 at approximately 5:46 PM Darke County Deputies
along with Greenville Township Fire, Greenville Township Rescue and
CareFlight were dispatched to the 2700 Block of State Route 571 West in
reference to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Preliminary investigation revealed a blue 2005 Toyota Tundra driven by
William R. Fordyce, 53, Greenville Ohio was west bound on State Route
571 west of Wagner Road. Fordyce observed an object in the
roadway and swerved to avoid it. Fordyce struck Austin W. Hayes,
22, Greenville Ohio who was walking west bound in the roadway.
Hayes was transported to Wayne HealthCare by Greenville Township Rescue
with a head injury. Hayes was later transported to Miami Valley
Hospital by there MICU for further evaluation, CareFlight would not fly
due to weather conditions at the time of the accident, Hayes is listed
in serious condition. William R. Fordyce was not injured.
Darke County Sheriff's Office Reconstruction Team was called to the
scene for further investigation.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's
Office.
