Rosenberger
Elected Speaker For Next General Assembly
House Republicans, who will have a strong majority in the next General
Assembly, elected Rep. Cliff Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) Wednesday to
serve as speaker of the House for the new term.
Mr. Rosenberger, who will succeed term-limited Speaker Bill Batchelder
(R-Medina), was the favorite in the vote and fended off a challenge
mounted by Rep. Jim Butler (R-Oakwood) and a coalition of more
conservative members.
Joining Mr. Rosenberger on the House GOP leadership team are:
• Rep. Ron Amstutz (R-Wooster), a one-time speaker contender, for
the second-ranking speaker pro tem job.
• Rep. Barbara Sears (R-Maumee), who maintains her current
position as majority leader.
• Rep. Jim Buchy (R-Greenville), who will be the fourth-ranking
assistant majority floor leader.
• Rep. Mike Dovilla (R-Berea), who becomes the majority whip.
• Rep. Dorothy Pelanda (R-Marysville), who will be the
sixth-ranking assistant majority whip.
