Faber Honors
Darke County Chamber for Excellence in Advocacy
COLUMBUS– Senate President Keith Faber (R-Celina) today honored the
Darke County Chamber of Commerce for winning the Chamber Action
Alliance's 2015 Best Advocacy Campaign Award.
This is the second consecutive year that the Darke County Chamber has
earned recognition for its grassroots campaign to combat drugs in the
workplace. The Chamber Action Alliance (CAA), the statewide grassroots
advocacy coalition coordinated by the Ohio Chamber of Commerce,
presented the Darke County Chamber with the same award in 2014.
"The Darke County Chamber continues to demonstrate an unparalleled
commitment to confront the growing problem of drug abuse in the
workplace," said Faber. "I commend the leadership of Sharon Deschambeau
in continuing the effort to develop long-term, sustainable solutions to
this problem."
In early 2013, the Darke County Chamber became attuned to the pervasive
issue of illegal drugs and substance abuse in western Ohio. In
response, it launched a grassroots campaign that involves compiling
research; educating businesses, elected officials, and community
stakeholders; working with schools; and advocating for drug abuse
legislation at the state level.
Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce was also honored for Excellence
in Grassroots Advocacy.
