Ohio Senate Honors Versailles High Basketball Champions
COLUMBUS– Ohio Senate President Keith Faber (R-Celina) today
honored the Versailles High School girls basketball team on the floor
of the Senate for winning the 2015 Division III state championship. The
team defeated Ottawa-Glandorf High School in a tight 49-46 game in
Columbus on March 21, 2015.
Some of the team members earned individual recognition for their
excellent performance on the court, including Christa Puthoff, who was
named 2nd-team all-state; Lauren Bruns, who was named Outstanding
Player in the State tournament for Division III; and Taylor Winner and
Kami McEldowney, who were both named to the state all-tournament team.
This is the second championship win for the Versailles team, who won
the Division III title in 2008 and finished second in 2014.
"It is my pleasure to recognize the Versailles girls team for
their tenacity and skill," said Faber. "Their championship victory is a
testament to the excellent leadership of Head Coach Jacki Stonebraker
and the determination of these talented athletes."
