College Credit Plus
By Laura Bemus, Assistant Superintendent
Greenville City School District
What is College Credit Plus? College Credit Plus provides
students the opportunity to earn college credit while attending high
school and replaces PSEO (Post Secondary Education Option) and dual
enrollment. Governor Kasich signed H.B. 487 into law on June 16,
2014 and the College Credit Plus program will become operational for
school districts across Ohio for the 2015-2016 school year.
The intent of the College Credit Law (ORC Chapter3365) is to maximize
students’ postsecondary credit opportunities during high school and to
make college course options available to students in Ohio.
Students will participate by enrolling in both college and high school
to earn transcripted college and high school credit upon successful
completion of the course. To participate a student will need to get
admitted to college and pass a placement test. When admitted,
students can choose any course that applies toward a degree or
workforce certification at a public college.
Greenville City School Board members have approved partnering with
Edison Community College and also with Sinclair College as
providers. By having approval to partner with both, the school
district will be able to maximize offerings for students in the
district.
