U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown
Disaster relief
available for those affected by severe weather
Residents and Businesses Affected by Severe Storms, Tornadoes, and
Flooding Between June 7 and July 29 Eligible for Low-Interest Loans
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that
new federal assistance is available to homeowners, renters, and small
business owners in Darke and Mercer Counties that experienced financial
loss due to severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that occurred in the
region between June 7, 2015 and July 29, 2015. The U.S. Small Business
Administration (SBA) will make available federal, low-interest disaster
loans to residents and businesses affected by the weather.
“Residents of Darke and Mercer Counties can now apply for resources
needed to recover from severe weather that swept through the area this
year—which may have impacted their homes or businesses through no fault
of their own,” Brown said. “These loans will help Ohioans rebuild and
get back on their feet.”
According to SBA, loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to
repair or replace real estate, and loans up to $40,000 are available to
both homeowners and renters to repair or replace personal property.
Businesses and nonprofit organizations can borrow up to $2 million to
repair or replace business assets including real estate and inventory.
The SBA also offers Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) to help
small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small aquaculture
businesses, and private nonprofit organizations offset working capital
needs caused by the disaster, regardless of whether there is physical
property damage.
SBA’s customer service representatives are on hand at local Disaster
Loan Outreach Centers to answer questions, issue applications, and
explain the disaster loan program application process. The closest
Center is as follows:

using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA’s secure website at
