Three injured
at SR 121 - US 36 Intersection
Motorcycle-tractor accident near Ansonia
On August 2, 2015 at approximately 12:07pm Darke County Sheriff's
Deputies along with Greenville Township Rescue, Tri-Village Rescue,
Arcanum Rescue, New Madison Fire, and CareFlight, responded to an
injury accident with multiple injuries at the intersection of SR 121
and US RT 36.
Preliminary investigation revealed a Grey 2014 Honda CRV driven by Alan
Long 54, Belleville, IL. and wife Amy Long 52, front passenger, and son
Eric Long 26, rear passenger, were traveling Westbound on US RT 36 and
stopped at the intersection of SR 121, then failed to yield the right
of way to a Northbound Black 2003 Chevy Suburban driven by Thomas
Finlay 31, West Alexandria, OH. The Honda CRV was struck in the
driver side and then traveled off the Northwest corner of the
intersection over 1000 feet into a bean field. Alan and his wife
Amy were taken to Miami Valley Hospital aboard CareFlight and son Eric
was uninjured. Mr. Finlay was transported to Wayne HealthCare in
Greenville for minor injuries.
The condition of Mr. and Mrs. Long are unknown at this time.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's
Office.
Motorcycle-tractor
injury accident near Ansonia
On August 1, 2015 at approximately 5:27 pm Darke County Deputies along
with Ansonia Rescue, North Star Fire and CareFlight, responded to an
injury crash involving a motorcycle and tractor at the intersection of
State Route 705 & Whiterd Road.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2014 Orange/Black Harley Davidson
Road King operated by Robin Webster 54, New Bremen and passenger Amy
Webster 46, New Bremen were traveling Eastbound on State Route 705 and
attempted to pass a Blue New Holland tractor pulling a manure spreader
operated by Jerome Otte 57, Maria Stein as the tractor slowed down and
was attempting to make a left turn onto Whiterd Road. The
motorcycle struck the front left tire of the tractor ejecting both
occupants of the motorcycle. Mr. Webster was not wearing a
helmet, and was flown to Miami Valley Hospital aboard CareFlight, and
his wife was wearing a helmet and was taken to Coldwater
hospital. The operator of the tractor, Mr. Otte was not injured.
The Darke County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Team was also
on scene to investigate the crash scene.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's
Office.
