Disaster
assistance available through Indiana
Good afternoon. I wanted to share with you all this very important
information relative to a federal declaration that has been issued to
the State of Indiana that opens up potential assistance for Darke
County home owners, renters and small businesses that received damage
from flooding in July.
Based on a request from the state of Indiana, the Small Business
Administration (SBA) issued a declaration for 5 Indiana counties as a
result of severe storms, tornadoes and flooding June 7 through July
29. This declaration includes contiguous counties in Indiana and
across state lines which resulted in the inclusion of Darke and Mercer
counties in the declaration. Home owners, renters and
businesses that suffered physical damages to real estate as a result of
the disaster are eligible to apply for the low interest loans.
This type of declaration requires a governor’s certification that at
least 25 homes and/or businesses within a requested county have
sustained 40% or more in uninsured losses as a result of the disaster.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
