Faber Praises
Local Honda Plants for Environmental Stewardship
COLUMBUS- Today Senate President Keith Faber (R-Celina) congratulated
three Honda plants in East Liberty, Anna and Marysville for receiving
the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency's highest award for
environmental stewardship.
"Winning this award twice in the past three years speaks to Honda's
remarkable dedication to keeping our environment safer and cleaner for
Ohioans," said Faber. "Honda is a perfect example of a company that has
found innovative ways to reduce its environmental impact without
minimizing its economic impact in our local communities."
Ohio EPA Director presented the three facilities with the Agency's
Encouraging Environmental Excellent (E3) Gold-Level Award in
recognition of their environmentally beneficial activities, including
installing a hydropower system to create free electricity, reducing
electricity and gas usage by implementing hydrogen fuel cell
technology, and achieving zero waste to landfill status.
Honda of America opened its first plant in Marysville in 1979. Today,
the company employs approximately 13,000 people at four manufacturing
locations in the region.
