State Representative Jim Buchy
Ft. Loramie
Community awarded Teen Safety Grant
Ft. Loramie High School Awarded a $100,000 grant from State Farm
through the Celebrate My Drive Program
COLUMBUS- State Representative Jim Buchy (R- Greenville) commends Fort
Loramie High School on winning $100,000 grants through the State Farm
Celebrate My Drive program. This makes Fort Loramie’s
program one of only 22 nationwide.
To earn this grant, students from Fort Loramie submitted a creative
video and proposal that addressed teen driver safety issues. In
their submission, they described their support for State Farm’s “2N2: 2
eyes on the road, 2 hands on the wheel” campaign. In the video by
Fort Loramie’s students a new driver exhibits the lessons her father
had taught her since she learned to ride a bike: buckle up, use two
hands to steer, and keep your eyes on the road.
“This is another example of the talents and skills of our students here
in western Ohio.” Buchy said, “Thanks to the leadership of school
officials students are becoming more aware of the dangers on the road
and taking an active role in changing this very concerning trend of
distracted driving.”
Out of the 681 high school submissions from across the nation, 100
finalists were chosen by State Farm to compete for public votes.
The top 22 vote-getters received $100,000 grants, of which 22% must be
used to create or support a teen driver safety initiative.
