Greenville High
School Learns Internet Safety
Cincinnati Bell Presents “Responsible Technology” to Students
Greenville – December 14, 2015 – While mistakes in life are often
forgotten, the Internet never forgets. On Monday, December 14
Greenville High School students learned how to protect their digital
footprint during Cincinnati Bell’s “Responsible Technology”
presentation in the Cafeteria
The session taught students about internet safety and technology issues
confronting young people such as sexting, online privacy and
cyberbullying.
“We feel teaching our students how to use technology responsibly is
important,” said Jeff Cassell. “Social media is a part of our students’
daily lives and we want them to know how to use it positively.”
Stephen Smith, Cincinnati Bell Director of Educational Leadership,
presented the free, one-hour course. He shared facts and anecdotes to
help students understand common technology issues they might face.
Students are always told to be careful about what they share on social
media, but Smith put everything into perspective by sharing that
college admission offices often look at social media profiles when
deciding whether or not to admit students.
During the presentation, Smith emphasized that nothing is ever truly
deleted from the Internet. Content is not always guaranteed to be
private and could be shared without them knowing.
Jeff Cassell felt the presentation was relevant to both students and
parents. “We’re grateful to Cincinnati Bell for providing such an
important program to our students. Mr. Smith shared some very
valuable lessons that we should all put into practice,” said Jeff
Cassell.
